As the UK continues to adapt its strategic position and policy in regard to COVID-19, I want to outline SweetTree’s absolute commitment to ensuring we maintain the health and safety of our clients, support workers and staff. Having had a chance to review our service quality during these times, we are proud that the measures we have put in place have allowed new and existing clients in our communities to receive the same high quality care we pride ourselves on.
Amid terrible tragedy in the care sector, we feel so grateful that of our clients who live in in their own homes, less than 1% have developed mild symptoms and of this small number – all have recovered quickly.
In addition to the high existing SweetTree quality, measures we have introduced have included:
- A rapid response team, available to meet with any clients who may have COVID-19 symptoms and require care at home
- Our Online Accredited SweetTree Training Academy, ensuring all SweetTree Support Workers continue to undergo comprehensive professional training in infection control remotely. We have also created a piece of dynamic training specifically centred around COVID-19, in line with the most up to date information from the UK’s Public Health Authorities and the World Health Organisation
- A newly created COVID-19 risk assessment for SweetTree clients who display COVID-19 symptoms, to manage issues in a timely and effective manner
- Regular full PPE stocks and regular delivery routes to ensure all of our workforce can safely engage with our clients in their own homes. Despite the well reported PPE challenges across the nation
