SweetTree appoints Admiral Nurse for North London

SweetTree has expanded its services to become one of the first private home care providers in the UK to employ a dedicated Admiral Nurse.

Based at the North London office, Admiral Nurse Rikki Lorenti will offer expert advice, information, and psychological support to family carers and clients living with dementia. His role was developed and appointed in close partnership with Dementia UK (for further information visits www.dementiauk.org)

Admiral Nurses seek to improve the quality of life for people living with dementia and their families. They use a range of interventions techniques to help people live positively with the condition and to develop skills to improve communication and maintain relationships.

Rikki joins SweetTree from YPWD (Younger People With Dementia) Berkshire West. He has a deep knowledge of both dementia care and care for older people.

Rikki commented: “SweetTree has given me this amazing opportunity to develop a service which complements and develops the current care packages it offers.

“Providing psychological support and facilitating carers to continue caring for their loved ones is so important; we are enabling families stay together. I have the best job in the world!”

SweetTree, supports individuals with a wide range of care needs. These include providing care for those experiencing age-related frailty and specialist programmes for those with dementia, mental health related illness, learning disabilities, brain injuries, neurological conditions, and palliative care needs. A leader in dementia care, SweetTree is once again headline sponsor of the Alzheimer’s Show, London in June 2015.

In 2014, in partnership with Dementia UK and the Alzheimers Society, SweetTree launched National Dementia Carers’ Day, a day dedicated to supporting the thousands of informal dementia carers up and down the country. The founders are all dedicated to improving quality of life for those living with dementia, but also the quality of life of those caring for a loved one living with the condition.

Nicki Bones, Operations Director of SweetTree and a dementia specialist, said: “The role an Admiral Nurse plays in helping family carers is hugely beneficial to those lucky few who can gain access to them. Rikki Lorenti stood out for us as someone whose empathy and experience are a perfect fit for SweetTree.

“By offering our clients access to an Admiral Nurse we will be building on the life changing care and support that our dementia team currently provides.”
