Job Description

HR & Compliance Administrator

Responsible to: Director of People & Values

Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday – Friday

Salary £28,000-£29,000

In this dynamic position, you will be instrumental in supporting various HR functions, ensuring compliance with regulations, and contributing to the overall success of our workforce. From managing the employee lifecycle to overseeing compliance checks and supporting talent acquisition efforts, your responsibilities will be diverse and impactful.

As a Human Resources & Compliance Administrator, you will report directly to our Director of People and Values. Working closely alongside our Employee Relations Manager and Talent Acquisition Manager, you will play a pivotal role in upholding our core principles and driving forward our commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive, and high-performing workplace culture.

As we continue to grow, we're seeking a dedicated Human Resources & Compliance Administrator to join our team and play a vital role in ensuring the success of our workforce.

Principle duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Support full employee lifecycle alongside HR & Recruitment team.
  • Update, organise, and review employee files across platforms.
  • Manage HR inboxes, addressing employee queries promptly.
  • Draft and issue various HR letters/documentation and attend meetings as required.
  • Monitor employee contracts, updates, and resignations.
  • Assist in probation reviews and ensure timely documentation submission.
  • Support reference checks, issuing and health questionnaire screening.
  • Administer HR transactions, including onboarding and offboarding.
  • Track payroll data and deliver employee benefit programs.
  • Manage absence, holiday, and AWOL processes.
  • Review and update HR policies in line with legislation.
  • Collaborate with departments to implement HR policies.
  • Support HR strategy development and lead projects.
  • Produce weekly HR reports.
  • Provide ad hoc administrative support and reception cover 1 day a week.

Compliance Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of company policy update cycle
  • Ensure valid Right to Work for visa holders, including renewals.
  • Maintain compliance with Right to Work and DBS checks.
  • Conduct monthly staff file audits and manage follow-up actions.
  • Verify validity of student letters for Visa compliance.
  • Ad Hoc Admin duties

Essential Experience, Skills, or Attitudes:

  • Minimum one year's HR/Administrative experience.
  • Strong grasp of Recruitment/HR legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word, and HR systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with demonstrable emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Confidence in managing sensitive employee data and upholding data protection standards.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in HR records.
  • Trusted ambassador for HR and the leadership team.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, and flexible in approach, with a willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of basic employment law and Payroll practices would be advantageous. (CIPD desirable)
